Legitimate use of profiling data
left until the GDPR comes into force and especially for publishers who are using profiling, there is a need for action. In contrast to traditional order tracking, the processing of personal data and its transfer to third parties without the user’s consent is prohibited from 25 May 2018.
In order to be able to continue successfully profiling after the new basic data protection regulation has taken effect, affilinet offers its publishers an GDPR compliant consent tool.
You should continue to take the following precautions:
- When buying media, make sure that the data collected from the advertiser is GDPR compliant – i.e. that the advertiser has asked the user for an opt-in;
- In case of an opt-out of the user, this must also be passed on to third parties;
- When using / designing dynamic product banners, make sure that a consent icon for the opti-in/out is included, which either refers the user to the affilinet opt-out page or to an analog opt-out page of suitable providers.
